… installing Ubuntu 5.10… again.
I’m making a LAMP
to stream my mp3 into my PSP… Ahhh the freedom of wireless and not having to fill my giga mms with mp3
Looks like my wish has been attended
A guy from WWW.DCLXVI.NL coded this nifty app named PHP RSS Feeder for PSP, that creates rss feeds for your mp3 files. Quoted from the readme:
Features
Not much to explain…
- Creates Album RSS feeds automaticly from a folder structure you can load from a 2.6 PSP webbrowser.
- Renames all your files if needed (set the $rename variable to 1).
- Reads ID3 tags, and puts the info in the RSS feed.
No need for xml files in every folder, just put this on your (PHP) webserver
and your ready to go! I’ll put some screenshots with it..
It’s way from perfect, but I just wanted to share it with the world.
The version that I downloaded from a PSP forum didn’t worked at first, it failed to find a php file named arrays.php, but then I checked the code (and the read me) and found out that it uses the id3v2.php ID3 tag reader class by Daniel Martinez-Morales. I googled it and found the arrays.php and voilá, it worked!
I’m mirroring the fixed files in my server, you can download it here.
The changes I made:
- Included the arrays.php file
- Deleted one of the mp3 files included in the zip file, this way the download is faster.
Enjoy it!
Komikwerks.com is now offering Stan Lee’s Sunday comics for the PSP. You can download six comic series and view them on your PSP. The comics are resized to fit the screen resolution ratio of the PSP.
Nostalgia. That’s what I felt when I found out that Capcom and Namco are releasing old games compilations for the PSP. The Namco Museum Battle was announced a few months ago, but Capcom announced last week the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, a collection that comes with games like Mega Twins, Strider and Captain Commando.
Today I read on The Magic Box that Capcom is releasing Xtreme Ghouls n’ Ghosts, a remake of the original Ghouls n’ Ghosts. This game is part of my childwood, Ghouls n’ Ghosts was one of the first games I played in the Arcades, and later in my Amiga…
Those were the days of 8bit gaming, of fun, of discovering. Today, the average game is nothing more than a tech demo, coders showing new game engines, exploring the latest 3D graphics and audio… but where is the fun stuff? Don’t get me wrong, I love games, but most of them don’t have the same feeling. Odd isn’t it? But I bet i’m not the only one thinking this way…
While Sony doesn’t update the firmware to read text RSS feeds, you can use MioMediaBox for PSP. This app allows you to subscribe text RSS feeds and then render the feeds to .jpg files. allowing you to read them in the PSP photo viewer. The app is freeware and only for PC.
With the latest firmware (2.60) the PSP can read RSS feeds, but it’s limited to audio feeds (aka Podcasts).
According to this Digit LIVE article, Sony says that the next firmware may include a RSS text feed reader if users request it. This would be a great functionality for the PSP, but there’s no information in the article on how you can request this new feature.
