Steven Poole was a columnist for Edge Magazine for a long time, and he’s has written some books on games.
Steven has now decided (prompted by Amazon’s Kindle launch as he mentions) to offer for free his game-related ebook Trigger Happy, which was released in 2000.
As he says in his blog:
Trigger Happy is a book about the aesthetics of videogames — what they share with cinema, the history of painting, or literature; and what makes them different, in terms of form, psychology and semiotics.
A good reading even if you don’t like games, free and released under a Creative Commons license. Trigger happy has just become my weekend book

The Trigger Happy Free by Ricardo Saramago, unless otherwise expressly stated, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 License.
