PSP Media Manager 1.0a

Sony updated the PSP Media Manager to version 1.0a.

From Sony Media Software Site:

Notable Fixes/Changes in Version 1.0a

  • Networking Options have been added to allow you to configure a proxy server override. If you need to specify a proxy server to access feeds and the Gracenote Media Database, click the Networking button in the Settings pane and use the controls on the Networking Options page.
  • A bug has been fixed that could cause PSPâ„¢ Media Manager to crash on startup.
  • A bug has been fixed that could prevent episodes from being deleted even if you had selected the Delete all downloaded files check box when removing the feed.
  • A bug that prevented compressed-format WAV files from being encoded to MP3 has been fixed.
  • A bug has been fixed that could cause audio/video synchronization offsets when re-encoding QuickTime video.
  • A bug has been fixed that caused tracks to be numbered incorrectly when transferring more than 99 tracks.

I’m downloading it now, so if it comes with any other changes not listed here I’ll update this post.

Back to Kubrick?

No. I just upgraded my blog to WordPress 2.0 and K2 is not fully compatible (yet).

Now I’m going to test drive this baby and see what it can do… so, no nafty theme for now.

Ubuntu and VNC

A few weeks ago I gave [tag]Ubuntu[/tag] another chance. The update bug was corrected and now I could enjoy my Ubuntu box without losing too much time with bugs. My ULAMP (the U is from Ubuntu) box was now ready to work, the only thing missing was the remote access. I installed [tag]SSH[/tag] and explored the [tag]Remote Desktop[/tag] feature that comes with Ubuntu. [tag]VNC[/tag] based, worked well, fast and functional, but when you logoff there’s no more Remote Desktop available. I needed VNC available from the login screen, or [tag]GDM[/tag] in Gnome/Ubuntu. So here’s a quick how to:

First, disable Desktop Sharing under System -> Preferences -> Remote Desktop.

Now install x11vnc, you can do this with [tag]apt-get[/tag] or [tag]Synaptics[/tag], this package is available in the Community Maintained (Universe) repository.

Now with [tag]x11vnc[/tag] installed, you will need to create a password file:

sudo x11vnc -storepasswd yourpasswordhere /etc/x11vnc.pass

Then configure GDM to run x11vnc when at loading time:

sudo gedit /etc/X11/gdm/Init/Default

and this line to the file:

/usr/bin/x11vnc -rfbauth /etc/x11vnc.pass -o /tmp/x11vnc.log -forever -bg -rfbport 5900

(you can change the port and other parameters)

So far so good, but if you restart your pc at this stage you’ll only be able to login, then the GDM will kill your session. To avoid this we must change another file:

sudo gedit /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf

now search for this line :

And change it to this:

Restart you PC and now you have VNC at login time. 🙂

Merry Christmas

This will be the first xmas of this blog, but there will be no bells and wisles, no “2005 in restrospective” posts.
For all of you who visit this little spot on the net, my wishes of peace in this weekend of xmas.

Merry Xmas!

Metal Gear Blowout Site on 1UP.com

The guys at 1UP.com have a new site dedicated to [tag]Metal Gear[/tag] and [tag]Hideo Kojima[/tag].

Some areas of the site are still locked up but this changes every day. At the end of the week, you can find a 5-day, multi-page exposes on Metal Gear games and Kojima Productions with the same quality [tag]1UP.com[/tag] has provided with similiar “micro-sites”.

A must for Metal Gear lovers!
