ANIMATION ANSWERS THE CALL WITH A NEW<br \/>\nTAKE ON THE CLASSIC ANIMATED SERIES \u201cTHUNDERCATS,\u201d<br \/>\nTO AIR ON CARTOON NETWORK<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>(June 3, 2010 \u2013 Burbank, CA) \u2013 Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) has begun  production on \u201cThunderCats,\u201d an all-new animated series for Cartoon  Network, based upon the iconic 1980s action classic. \u201cThunderCats\u201d is  the newest series from WBA, joining \u201cBatman: The Brave and the Bold,\u201d  which was recently renewed for a third season, and the following  forthcoming programs: \u201cThe Looney Tunes Show,\u201d \u201cMAD,\u201d \u201cScooby-Doo!  Mystery Incorporated\u201d and \u201cYoung Justice.\u201d The announcement was made  today by Sam Register, Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs,  Warner Bros. Animation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to being Warner Bros. Animation\u2019s first anime series,  \u2018ThunderCats\u2019 marks our most ambitious foray yet into fantasy,\u201d said  Register. \u201cThe realism and dynamic visual style we\u2019ve achieved are sure  to thrill viewers, and the cool weapons, vehicles and technology should  help the show appeal to a diverse audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 21st century reimagining of the series marks a creative  collaboration between WBA and Studio4\u00b0C, one of the most vibrant  animation studios in Japan, with credits including \u201cThe Animatrix,\u201d  \u201cGotham Knights\u201d and \u201cHalo Legends.\u201d WBA is working closely with  Studio4\u00b0C, utilizing the latter\u2019s expertise to give the \u201cThunderCats\u201d  characters a new cutting-edge look while remaining true to the  compelling storylines and mythology of the original series.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe at Studio4\u00b0C are excited to be in this creative partnership with  Warner Bros. Animation to bring \u2018ThunderCats\u2019 to life,\u201d said Eiko  Tanaka, President and CEO, Studio4\u00b0C. \u201cThis collaboration combines the  strengths of our two companies \u2013 high production values and great  storytelling \u2013 toward reintroducing this classic fan-favorite to a new  audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roaring to life through WBA and Studio4\u00b0C\u2019s use of the Japanese animated  artistry of anime, \u201cThunderCats\u201d characters Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, Panthro,  Cheetara and others will spring off the screen with realistic cat-like  characteristics inconceivable in previous incarnations.<\/p>\n<p>The new \u201cThunderCats\u201d will appeal to viewers who have loved the  characters all their lives as well as young newcomers to the franchise. A  sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious  battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince  Lion-O\u2019s ascension to the throne \u2013 and of those who would thwart his  destiny at any cost \u2013 takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new  telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest  for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable  lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThunderCats\u201d is executive produced by Sam Register (\u201cTeen Titans,\u201d \u201cBen  10,\u201d \u201cBatman: The Brave and the Bold\u201d).
