As the majority knows, the Wii was released on Portugal last Friday (the 8th). I got to do some ‘xmas shopping on the same day and saw some units on sale but no games whatsoever, no Zelda, no Wii Play, none. I won’t lie and say that it didn’t crossed my mind to buy one, even after my last post about the subject. I’ve always been a great fan of Nintendo, but the Wii has not yet prove it’s value for me. As I said before, Zelda TP seems a great game but it’s not the game that will make me buy the console. A few hours later, the Wii’s I saw on sale were gone. A good sign perhaps, but then again, there were still some units remaining on day one.
I went on with my shopping spree. Bought a TV and, on my perfect mind, a PS2. An old game is a new game if you never played it and that was my idea when I bought the PS2. Playing MG3 Subsistence, Final Fantasy X and X-2 was a great experience. Now I get to play great games at a reduced priced (you can get PS2 games at 15€ to 60€), and have a chance to really find out what I’ve been missing all these years. If you are a true gamer you can’t side with a brand or with a system or you’ll loose excellent games. I bought R-Type Final (15€), the last R-Type title ever made, and man, it’s great (but I’ll expand this in another post). I’m not sorry I got the PS2 instead of Wii, time will tell the fate of the new gen consoles but for now I’ll enjoy the “new” games PS2 has to offer. Now excuse me while me and Snake find our way out of the Russian jungle…
