I don’t know which CPanel version your hosting company provides you with, but in my version there’s a whole set of options just for configuring domains. In the subdomains options you can configure create the subdomains and the redirects.
The number of subdomains you can configure also depends on your hosting plan, so check your plan first and find out if how many subdomains you’re allowed to have.

Nice idea, this way you can also keep some of the link juice if you do a 301.
